With over 16 years of experience as a nursing assistant specializing in geriatrics, Sara Thomas has dedicated her career to providing compassionate and personalized care to seniors. Her extensive background spans various care settings, including nursing facilities and in-home care, with a significant focus on supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
In 2021, driven by a passion to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the elderly, Sara founded Grannie Nannies Caring Companions. Her mission was clear: to offer high-quality home care services that enable seniors in Bangor, Maine, and surrounding areas to age comfortably and safely in their own homes.

Rachel Lowther brings over 15 years of experience in elderly and disability care to her role as Care Coordinator at Grannie Nannies Caring Companions. A native of Bangor, Maine, Rachel is passionate about providing the kind of support and advocacy that helps seniors remain independent and safe in their homes.
Her career in home care began in early childhood, inspired by her mother’s work in nursing homes and home settings. Rachel developed a natural sense of empathy and a deep commitment to helping others, which led her to work extensively with elderly individuals and clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
As the first team member to join the Grannie Nannies Caring Companions family, Rachel helped shape the agency’s core values of compassion, trust, and dignity. Her organizational skills and attention to detail make her an ideal Care Coordinator—matching caregivers with clients and ensuring every care plan is tailored to individual needs.
